Pregnancy Care

Each antenatal visit is an opportunity to get to know each other, talk through pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding, answer questions, and offer emotional and social support. Clinical care and assessment is also provided, including the option to order pathology and imaging services. As this is in your home, the whole family can be involved, whatever that looks like for your family. Visits usually start soon after you become pregnant, are monthly until about 28 weeks, fortnightly until about 36 weeks, then weekly until birth. 

 I offer homebirth midwifery care, and this support will look different for every family. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive presence, and be available to provide clinical care as required. I bring medical equipment with me, including resuscitation equipment and emergency medications, in case these are required. All families also have the option to loan a birth pool, which is included in the care package. I will also arrange for a second midwife to attend the birth. For women birthing in a hospital, I am able to accompany you as a support person. 

  Postnatal care is for you and your new baby, up until six weeks after the birth. This involves getting to know your baby, recovery from birth, breastfeeding support, and continued education and support for the whole family. These visits are usually daily for the first few days after birth, then at one week, two weeks, four weeks, and six weeks. 

 I offer my services as a combined package, which means booking me as your midwife for pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care. For women who have a Medicare card, I charge $6800 in out of pocket costs, and this covers all pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care.
